Starting from 1 July 2025, Singapore will remove the time limits for Work Permit holders. This is a major change for foreign workers, especially those in the construction industry. Workers will now be able to stay employed in Singapore for much longer, with the maximum age raised to 63 years old. New applicants can also be up to 61 years old, giving more people the chance to work and build their careers here.
For many workers, this change brings greater stability and opportunity. Instead of worrying about when their work permit will expire, they can focus on improving their skills and advancing their careers. Employers also benefit because they can retain experienced and reliable workers for longer periods, without being forced to replace them due to time restrictions.
At the same time, the government is encouraging workers to upgrade their skills. Those who achieve “Higher-Skilled” classification not only enjoy better job prospects but also help their companies reduce levy costs. This means upskilling in areas such as plumbing or electrical work is more valuable than ever.
At Apex Academy, we are here to support workers through these changes. By taking our certified courses, you can increase your chances of moving into the Higher-Skilled category, secure longer-term employment in Singapore, and enjoy better opportunities in one of the country’s most in-demand industries.
